The surroundings

The Mas El Perer cabin is located in the middle of La Moixina-Pla de Llacs, in Olot (Girona). The building is situated next to the historic center of the city, as well as a walk of about 15 minutes from La Fageda d’en Jordà, one of the most emblematic forests in Catalonia.

We are located in an ideal point to discover the volcanic area of La Garrotxa in its entirety, being able to enjoy both: the landscape and the local gastronomy, the renowned “Volcanic Cuisine”.

La Cabanya del Perer is designed for family tourism that searches for combine tranquility, enjoying nature, and discover Olot and the region of La Garrotxa.

La Cabanya, located close by the town centre, is situated in the wetlands of La Moixina, a nature reserve with a great wealth of flora and fauna, and where the walks are very pleasant and quiet. From here you can carry out various activities during your stay such as walking routes, cycling, balloon trips, walks through La Fageda d’en Jordà (it is highly advisable to visit La Fageda Cooperative) and nearby volcanoes, such as Crostat and Santa Margarita, among others. You can also visit neighboring towns with a lot of history and charm, such as Santa Pau, Besalú or the different villages of the Vall d’en Bas.

In addition to nature and landscape, La Garrotxa is known everywhere for its gastronomy, so during the visit you can taste local products such as ‘fesols de Santa Pau’, ‘farro’, ‘fajol’, or typical dishes such as ‘patates d’Olot’ or ‘coca de llardons’, among many other dishes in a gastronomic offer that fits to all palates.

La Cabanya del Perer

From the seventeenth century to the present day

El Perer is a historic building in the city of Olot, whose oldest documentation predates 1700. In this sense, we are facing a representative architectural complex of the traditional walled rural construction in Catalonia. This complex is formed by a large plot of land destined to agriculture, a country house as the main construction, a cabin that served for functions related to stockbreeding and the conservation of the surplus, and a chicken coop. The different buildings are distributed around the era, and the property is delimited by a stone wall that serves as a small rampart.

In recent years, a process of rehabilitation of the architectural complex has been carried out, which has served to give a new image to the constructions and revitalize the area, opening the cultivation area to vegetable gardeners, rehabilitating the chicken coop as an architecture studio, and completely restoring the cabin, to end up serving as a rural house.

After the process of rehabilition, La Cabanya del Perer preserves the traditional stable-haystack structure organized on two floors, in which the ground floor was intended for stockbreeding, and the upper floor served as a warehouse for straw and barn. In this way, the rehabilitated building offers at the same time a direct link with tradition and maximum comfort.

Organization of the Cabin

La Cabanya del Perer has a capacity for 10 people, distributed in 5 double rooms with bathroom in each of them.

On the ground floor you will find a large space with the dining room and kitchen, fully equipped; in addition to an adapted bathroom and two double bedrooms.

Regarding the upper floor, with privileged views of the area, you will find the living room and terrace, as well as the remaining three bedrooms.

Furthermore, outside the cabin you have a garden with outdoor dining room, barbecue and pool area.

The building also has a parking area.

Rates and prices

The rental system is complete house for weekends from Friday to Sunday and the price is € 880, or during the week with a minimum of two nights at the same price. If the stay is longer than two nights, the price to apply is reduced to € 400 / night.

In the period of July and August the reservations will be full week with a price of € 400 / night.

On dates considered special, it will be necessary to consult the calendar prices.

Prices do not include the tourist tax (€ 1.00 / night with a maximum of 7 nights) and the deposit of € 300 that must be deposited at the time of booking and that will be refunded at the end of the stay if there have been no damages.
